Our Rosin Dabs - Colorado

Rosin

All of our live rosins is produced from the same high-quality, organic plants used for our renowned Rick Simpson Oil. Cannabis strains are selected for our rosin production based upon their unique trichrome structure, terpene profile, and suitability for ice water extraction.

Importantly, we don’t harvest our plants early to produce artificially-white rosin—so different than the golden trichomes that are most prized for their complete cannabinoid profile. When it is time to harvest, our head grower selects only the best plants for cryogenic freezing. The entire plants are immediately frozen and kept under freezing conditions during the entire extraction process.

Our head solventless extractor uses ultra-clean reverse osmosis water to perform ice water extractions and to make the ice itself. This results in clean-tasting live rosin free of heavy metals and other contaminants found in tap water. Finally, the hash is freeze-dried before the best micron sizes are combined. We then press small batches of mixed micron hash to ensure consistency across batches and to reduce terpene loss from large runs.

FAQs

What is rosin vs. live rosin?

Rosin and live rosin primarily differ in how they are extracted, with slight variations in flavor and appearance. Rosin is made from dried cannabis flower or hash, hence being referred to as the pinnacle of cannabis concentrates. This product is extracted by isolating the cannabis plant’s trichomes. After that, they are pressed using heat and pressure to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes.

Conversely, live rosin is made by freezing fresh marijuana, making it the purest type of cannabis concentrate. This is because they are frozen immediately after harvesting to preserve the plant’s living terpene profile and keep it “live.” In other words, it is a solventless extract produced without solvents but by the use of pressure, temperature, and physical separation.

Unlike rosin, live rosin often tastes better and has many terpenes. It also has a honey or wax appearance, while its counterpart looks similar to sap or other cannabis oils.

What is ice water extraction?

Ice water extraction is a method that involves ice, water, and fermentation. It differs from other methods since it doesn’t use chemicals to separate THC and CBD from cannabis plants, creating a more potent and pure batch. This technique entails immersing the flower in ice water and stirring it.

The trichomes’ greater density than water serves as the basis for this method. Therefore, as the trichomes sink during fermentation, we can extract the active components from the trichomes. This procedure must be precise and gentle to allow the trichomes to sink and leave the cannabinoids separated, which is the desired extract’s ultimate product.

Is live Rosin full-spectrum?

Live rosin is a full-spectrum product because it contains a whole terpene and cannabinoid profile specific to the cultivar utilized and faithfully reflects the strain’s profile. Full-spectrum generally preserves all the plant’s essential compounds while eliminating extra plant material. When all of these components are consumed at once, they work harmoniously to increase the potential benefits of CBD.

Full-spectrum cart gives you the naturally produced cannabinoid and terpene composition of any bud used. Rosin dabs leave you with a more complex and twisty feeling, which is always known as the entourage effect. This is when the various plant components combine to enhance the experience and increase the amount of active ingredients like THC and CBD.

Full-spectrum cart products are gaining popularity in the legal market and are priced very competitively with THC-distillate carts.

What does Live Rosin taste/smell like?

Live rosin has a flavor and aroma similar to the original cannabis strain from which it was made. The production process and materials used determine the aroma and flavor profile of the final product. For instance, if a producer uses quality ice water hash, the result may be live rosin that matches ripe cannabis strains in aroma and flavor. A bubble hash of lower quality would have an unappealing flavor and scent.

Live rosin usually comes in a range of golden, cream, or tan shades, depending on the terpene profile of the extracted strain. It may appear darker with time if not stored correctly and as it changes.

Live rosin and BHO, which one is better?

Comparing cannabis concentrates comes down to your preference. As we’ve seen, live rosin extraction uses fresh or frozen cannabis plants, making it one of the purest products. Furthermore, since just heat and pressure are used to create this high-grade cannabis concentrate, the initial product’s quality becomes apparent throughout the procedure.

On the other hand, some people may argue that by using the proper tools, materials, and lab procedures, the BHO extraction method can potentially yield concentrates with higher concentrations of terpenes and cannabinoids.
